Andy Karl is headed back to Jersey Boys. As previously announced, Karl will depart The Mystery of Edwin Drood, in which he plays Neville Landless and Victor Grinstead, on February 10, and will be replaced in that show by Andrew Samonsky. Karl will return to the role of Four Seasons founder Tommy DeVito (which he previously played in a year-long Broadway run beginning in October 2011) on February 12, replacing Jeremy Kushnier, who departs on February 10. Kushnier will head to his native Canada to play Captain Walker in a May 2013 staging of Tommy at the Stratford Festival.
Karl originated the roles of Luke in Altar Boyz, Joe in 9 to 5 and the UPS Guy in Legally Blonde. Other credits include Wicked, The Wedding Singer, Saturday Night Fever, Saturday Night, Slut! the Musical and Romeo & Bernadette. His film credits Joyful Noise, On the One and New York, I Love You.
The current Broadway cast of Jersey Boys is led by Tony winner John Lloyd Young as Frankie Valli, Matt Bogart as Nick Massi and Drew Gehling as Bob Gaudio. The cast also includes Peter Gregus, Mark Lotito, Miles Aubrey, Erik Bates, Candi Boyd, Jared Bradshaw, Cara Cooper, Ken Dow, Russell Fischer, Rashad Naylor, Katie O’Toole, Joe Payne, Jessica Rush, Dominic Scaglione Jr., Nathan Scherich, Sara Schmidt and Taylor Sternberg.
